ILOILO CITY–The businessman who was gunned down and then stabbed by riding-in-tandem assailants Saturday evening along at the Fort San Pedro area, City Proper was a respondent in a long list of criminal cases since several years ago.
According to Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) director P/Col. Uldarico Garbanzos, the victim, Fil-Pakistani Hamza Pechon Kayani, had cases of grave threats, rape, illegal possession of firearms and explosives, illegal possession of prohibited drugs, and even murder dating back to 2015.
Kayani’s name was first linked to the murder of one Rogelio Amir Jr. at The Q Drive-in Motel in La Paz in September 2015, but he denied the accusations.
Last August 2018, a case for serious illegal detention with three counts of rape was filed against him after he was charged by the mother of his supposed victim who was a minor.
Several days later, he was served a search warrant in his house in Tanza Esperanza, City Proper where a rifle grenade, two magazines of an M16 rifle, a caliber .45 pistol with ammunition, 16 sachets of suspected shabu, and several drug paraphernalia were found in his possession.
The latest of his criminal transgressions took place in August this year when he was rapped for light threats.
For a time, Kayani was also linked to slain drug personality Boyet Odicta though he repudiated all of these accusations.
OF ANGLES AND MOTIVES
Meanwhile, P/Capt. Shella Mae Sangrines, ICPO Police Station 1 chief, said they are closely studying all angles of Kayani’s slay, of which there are plenty.
“Damo-damo gid nga ginasundan naton nga anggulo kag motibo [we are following a lot of angles and motives (to his killing)].”
“Nagapangayo kita sang pasaylo nga in as much nga gusto sang ICPO Station 1 nga solbaron ini sa madali nga panahon, indi kita gadali-dali kag kapalagpat nga itudlo ta lang kon kay sin-o… [We apologize that, as much as ICPO Station 1 wants to resolve this case at the soonest time possible, we cannot rush the process and point fingers at just anyone…],” the PP1 chief stated.
“Nag-instruction na kita nga padalman sang aton mga imbestigador para mabal-an ta kun diin (sa mga anggulo) ang mas nagapangibabaw kag nga-a ginlagas gid siya, ginlab-ut, gintiro kag ginpatay [I already gave instructions to our investigators to probe deeper so we will know which of the angles stand out, and why he was chased, shot, and killed],” Sangrines said.
