ILOILO CITY– Inbound travel from places outside of Western Visayas to Iloilo City has been temporarily suspended from August 9 to August 15 as this southern city continues to be under the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ), the highest quarantine classification imposed during this coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
However, certain groups of people are exempted from the inbound travel ban, including Returning Overseas Filipinos (ROFs), who will just be made to undergo quarantine upon arrival and undertake RT-PCR (Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction) testing on the fifth day of the quarantine period. Only those who test negative will be allowed to leave the quarantine facility and go home to their families.
Authorized Persons Outside of Residence (APORs) will also be allowed into Iloilo City but must first do the following: a) Comply with the city’s S-PaSS system; b) present a negative RT-PCR test result taken at least three days before the trip; c) submit to the Iloilo City government an itinerary of his travel thru the S-PaSS system for contact tracing later if they are to stay in the city for no more than 24 hours, and d) undergo RT-PCR testing upon arrival if staying for more than 24 hours.
Travel to Iloilo City among APORs solely for leisure purposes is not allowed.
Returning residents of Iloilo City, including Locally-Stranded Individuals (LSIs), are likewise allowed back so long as they: a) Comply with the city’s S-PaSS system; b) undergo and present a negative RT-PCR test result taken no more than three days before travel; and c) go on quarantine upon arrival and undergo a second RT-PCR test on the fifth day of quarantine. Only those with a negative result will be allowed to break quarantine and go home.
As of the latest COVID-19 Regional Case Bulletin from the Department of Health-Center for Health Development here in Western Visayas, Iloilo City has 1,294 active cases, fourth in the region behind Iloilo Province (2,813), Aklan (2,155), and Negros Occidental (1,396). It also has 12,520 recoveries to date, which is fourth in WV, and has 377 deaths, second only to Iloilo Province’s 484 fatalities due to COVID-19. (N. Glenn Aragon/iNEWS)
