ILOILO CITY—The Jaro PNP Station is leaving no stones unturned in its investigation of the failed robbery incident in a convenience store in Brgy. Poblacion, Leganes town that led to the brutal shooting to death of Carl Dominic Labuson, son of Leganes Sangguniang Bayan member Larry Labuson last Black Saturday, April 3.
According to P/Capt. Eduardo Siacon, Jr., chief of the Police Precinct No. 3, they are now in the process of looking for the possible exit points of the suspect by checking the closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras along Metropolis Avenue, where the lifeless body of the victim was later found.
Jaro police investigators also went to the sari-sari store that the still-unnamed suspect tried to hold up a few minutes before the shooting, carrying with them several pictures of possible suspects to the crime.
While the store owner, who asked that her real identity be concealed and opted to be identified as alias Jenny, pointed to someone from the set of pictures as the possible suspect in the failed robbery but said she can’t be 100% sure as the man was then wearing a face mask and a helmet.
Based on alias Jenny’s description of the suspect, the man was “a bit skinny,” 5’6” to 5’7” in height, and of dark complexion.
Siacon also said they received information of the real name of the murder suspect as well as his modus but they are still validating it.
To note, the crime happened near the main entrance of the Metropolis Subdivision in Brgy. Tagbak, with the suspect said to have exited at the neighboring Brgy. Bitoon, also in Jaro.
In addition, the elder Labuson offered a hefty P100,000 cash reward to whoever could provide information that would lead to the arrest of the suspect in his son’s death.
In a related development, Iloilo City mayor Jerry Treñas gave instructions to Iloilo City Police Office director P/Col. Uldarico Garbanzos to do their best to collar the suspect in the death of the 19-year old Labuson as soon as possible.
According to the city chief executive, the police are now deep into its investigation of the incident that took place in Brgy. Tagbak last April 3.
Meanwhile, he congratulated the Laua-an police who coordinated with the ICPO in the speedy arrest of the security guard who shot and killed a Food Panda delivery rider at the De Leon St. wing of Robinson’s Place Iloilo last March 31.
Treñas also said that the Iloilo City government will be extending their assistance to the family of the victim, who is a resident of Brgy. Bitoon, Jaro. (N. Glenn Aragon/iNEWS)
