BACOLOD CITY–Another provincial board member and a Capitol employee have tested positive for the coronavirus.

Atty. Rayfrando Diaz, provincial administrator, confirmed that Board Member Rommel Debulgado (1st district) and a cameraman assigned at the Provincial Information office have been found to be COVID-positive.

Diaz added that Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, who had close contact with Debulgado, tested negative anew on Tuesday.

The board member’s positive result was released Monday, days after he exhibited the classic COVID-19 symptoms of loss of smell and taste. He will be isolated at Mambukal Resort, where the cameraman is also quarantined.

Diaz also said that the PIO was closed for disinfection yesterday and that the employees who had exposure with the cameraman have been isolated and will undergo RT-PCR testing five days from today.

It was learned that the said employee covered an event attended by the Governor in San Carlos City on Friday last week, but they were in different vehicles.

Two police officers who were with the cameraman in the same vehicle have tested negative, Diaz revealed.

Debulgado is the latest member of the Sanggunian Panlalawigan of Negros Occidental to test positive for COVID-19.

Board Members Andrew Montelibano, Samson Merjan, Frederick Ko, and Valentino Miguel Alonzo had previously been infected but have since recovered. (Eugene Y. Adiong/iNEWS-Bacolod/Negros Bureau)
