KALIBO, Aklan–The province of Aklan reported 358 new COVID-19 cases, taking the total case count to 11,686.
Over the last week, 14 additional deaths from the virus were also recorded.
The current 7-day average of active cases in Aklan of 795 is a decrease of 33 percent compared with the previous 7-day moving average of 1,184.
The hospitals also logged a 7-day average of 94 admissions in intensive care unit COVID beds and COVID bed wards, calculated for the week from August 23 to August 29.
Of the new cases, Kalibo accounts for 60; Malay, 55; Numancia, 47, and Banga for 33.
There were 32 new cases in Batan, 29 in Tangalan, and 15 in Ibajay over a 7-day period.
During the seven-day period ending August 29, four Banga residents reportedly died due to COVID-19 related complications.
Meanwhile, Kalibo reported three more fatalities, Numancia, two, and Ibajay, Makato, Batan, Libacao, and New Washington reported one fatality each.
The seven-day positivity rate of Aklan was 34 percent, which is still higher than the 5 percent indicator set by the World Health Organization to show that the epidemic is under control.
To note, Aklan will remain under modified enhanced community quarantine until September 7.
