BACOLOD CITY–Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III led the distribution of a total of P15,342,675 to 2,321 beneficiaries in Negros Occidental and its capital Bacolod City at separate venues on Tuesday, November 9.
Bello also assured local officials a total of P110 million of Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) for Negros Occidental and Bacolod City in 2022.
The labor secretary said, of the total amount, P20 million will go to the provincial government through Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, another P20 million through Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer, and P10 million to each of the six congressional districts of Negros Occidental and the Lone District of Bacolod.
He made the assurance in the presence of Lacson, Ferrer, and the seven solons of the province and Bacolod City.
He said it will be the local government that will identify the beneficiaries affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“President Rodrigo Duterte ordered to give all the allocation given by Congress under Bayanihan 1 and 2 Laws to the people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic as the money belongs to them,” Bello stated.
At the Forest Park Water Garden Resort, Bello distributed P553,000 via money remittance to 190 beneficiaries, of which 140 were from Brgy. Taculing and 50 from Brgy. 29.
At Negros Residences, 1,521 beneficiaries received a total of P7,989,675 in cash assistance. The recipients came from six barangays in the 3rd district, five barangays in the 4th district, and nine barangays in the 5th district of Negros Occidental.
For the government’s KABUHAYAN project, a total of P6,800,000 was distributed to 590 beneficiaries for their nine livelihood projects. (Eugene Y. Adiong/iNews-Bacolod/Negros Bureau)
