BACOLOD CITY–Five more employees of the provincial government of Negros Occidental tested positive for COVID-19, Atty. Rayfrando Diaz, provincial administrator, confirmed on Monday, July 12.
The five employees are from the Negros Occidental Comprehensive Health Program (NOCHP).
Diaz said two of the five employees tested positive last Saturday.
The two initially requested to be placed in an isolation facility near Bacolod City, he added.
However, by Sunday, one of the patients was transferred to the Valladolid District Hospital after the medical staff noticed that his oxygen saturation readings began to deteriorate, and he needed to be placed on oxygen.
“Fortunately, Negros Occidental recently bought a high flow oxygen machine, and they managed to stabilize the patient. He’s now reported to be doing well,” Diaz said.
The additional three positive cases, meanwhile, were referred to the Capitol-run quarantine facility at the Mambukal Resort in the municipality of Murcia after getting their results on Monday.
All three are likewise doing well, he also said.
Diaz said the rest of the NOCHP personnel tested negative for COVID-19 and will resume their duties soon. (Eugene Y. Adiong/iNEWS-Bacolod/Negros Bureau)
