ILOILO CITY– An unintentional blunder turned deadly.

This, after a Food Panda rider was gunned down by a security guard assigned at a bank at Robinson’s Place (Main) on Quezon St., Iloilo City for making the mistake of placing the food parcel he was delivering on the guard’s desk.

An eyewitness to the incident said, the suspect, later identified as Argie Solis of Grabato Investigation and Security Agency stationed at the De Leon St. branch of Malayan Bank, became livid when the victim, Joemar Sanchez of Brgy. Bitoon, Jaro, put the rain-drenched package down on a table and got the logbook on it wet.

The onlooker added he heard the victim apologize for the slip-up and thought that was the end of it. But the next thing he heard was a volley of gunshots. He said the victim even tried running away but the suspect followed him and fired a couple more shots until the victim fell bloodied on the sidewalk.

It was unclear how many shots in total were fired.

Afterward, Solis took his backpack from inside the bank and walked away as if nothing happened, even passing by the lifeless body of Sanchez en route to fleeing the scene of the crime.

Solis is reportedly a native of Antique province.

In the video of the incident that is now going viral on social media it can be seen that, although a police patrol car arrived just a few minutes after the incident, the victim was no longer brought to the nearest hospital.

According to Capt. Shella Mae Sangrines, chief of Police Precinct 1, Sanchez was no longer showing ‘signs of life’ when police officers reached the area so they decided to just wait for the personnel of the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) to arrive.

Members of the media have since tried to get additional information from police investigators but Sangrines is yet to answer questions relative to the shooting.

Based on initial, unverified information from cops on the scene, at least one of the entrance wounds of the victim was at the back. (N. Glenn Aragon/iNEWS)
